THE EGG DIET
If you decide on this version of the diet program, you’ll consume three meals day after day. Snacks and drinks with calories don't seem to be allowed. Each day, eat one meal with eggs, but other meals are often built around other sources of lean protein like chicken or fish.
To supplement the protein on your plate, you'll add low carbohydrate vegetables like broccoli or spinach. citrus is usually allowed. This diet is typically called the “The Boiled Egg Diet” and requires that you simply eat your eggs hard-boiled, instead of poached, scrambled, or fried.
What Are You Going To Eat In Diet
In general, you'll expect to eat lots of eggs, other lean proteins, vegetables, and a few fruit. All versions of the egg diet require you to eat primarily egg-based meals. Here are the foremost popular variations.

The Egg Diet – A Low Carbohydrate Diet
The egg diet is a low carb diet which is related to the Atkins diet where the main goal is to restrict your carbohydrate intake. On this
diet, you can have an unlimited amount of protein and fat but your carbohydrates must be controlled. Eggs are much less expensive than meat
and can be used in unlimited quantities while on the egg diet. You may need these before you start :

- 1 or 2 Boiled Eggs
2. Lunch : Try to eat as mush of one fruit that you like, see fruits below .
- Orange, Strawberry, Pears, Apples, Plums, Cantaloupe, Watermelon
3. Dinner – Grilled meat only completely fat free, Cut or Ground
* mutton or lamb are not allowed

1. Breakfast- 1/2 Orange or Grapefruit
- 1 or 2 Boiled Eggs
2. Lunch – Grilled or boiled chicken only. * remove the skin .
3. Dinner – 2 boiled eggs, green salad , One slice of toast or pita and one orange or grape fruit

– One tablespoon of fat free cream cheese, A slice of toast with tomato.

Some Facts about Eggs in Your Diet
In recent years, anti-egg crowds have deemed the egg as an unhealthy diet food because eggs are high in cholesterol, however eating eggs doesn’t raise your bad cholesterol the way eating fatty food does. The egg diet can help to lower your cholesterol as well as fat (Source).
Some facts about the egg diet
The egg diet is an exceptionally low carbohydrate diet, but eggs protect you from fat. Carbohydrates work as a fuel to fat cells, but as eggs contain such low levels of carbohydrates, you don’t eat anything which provides you fat and hence, it assists in keeping your cholesterol level lower.
The true fact is that when we normally eat carbohydrates they are turned immediately into glucose. Excessive amounts of glucose from our food that is not used by any other cell is then again converted to fat and gets stored in fat cells. When we starve ourselves of carbohydrates, our body pulls the fat from the fat reserves and turns it again to glucose. This continues even if you stuff yourself with various low carbohydrate foods such as steak, egg, and cheese. By using this method, we can certainly lose fat even while stuffing ourselves with our favorite dishes.
Usually, our diet consists of carbohydrates and nutrients especially if you eat starchy foods like potatoes or pasta. You may be eating a balanced diet which consists of milk, bread, vegetables, fruits and sometimes meat. Bread and fruits are high in carbohydrates where eggs and meat are not.

DeleteI am on day 11. Feeling awesome. Down 12 lbs todate. I eat turkey burgers, season them with weber burger season, chicken, any lean fat free meat without skin. I use oil vinegar on my salads. I slice my eggs if im having them for dinner. The combination, the amounts, how we eat, all that comes together perfect. This is the best diet ice ever done and seen results quick. Me and my daughter are neck n neck on the weight loss.

On day 18. Has anyone experienced a stop in weight loss for this week? Me my daughter and son n law have completely stopped losing. Eating exactly. Is the weight gonna drop more next week? Little frustrated since I was losing daily. Until this wk. I gained few lbs! YIKES

Also can we put fruit in a blender and make like a smoothie to drink as well? About the fruit, depends on the day, it will tell you that you can have a mix of fruit or that you can only have 1 fruit. Which is usually the case, because it usually says have as much of 1 fruit that you like, like on day 1. But day 15 you can have different types of fruit they just have to be the fruit that is listed, I am unsure about serving sizes, I haven't been going over 4oz of meat. I am on day 24 and down 19 lbs 4 more days to go!

ReplyDeleteAna F Here. I don't think you can substitute juice for the actual fruit since juice tends to have more calories, sugar and carbs. But I'm no expert on this diet. I've tried finding more information but haven't found any.
DeleteIf you don't like the taste of the grapefruit make sure you are getting ruby red grapefruit and peeling off the skin, you start to learn how to like it. I am starting round 2 of the 28 day diet. First round lost 23 lbs. I started first round in July and now doing it again for the end of august through September I have a md appointment in 14 days and I am trying to lose about 12lbs in the first 2 weeks!! Wish me luck.

ReplyDeleteI did this diet multiple times. Always lost close to 34-36 lbs BUT every time I did this diet, I even worked out- a good high intensity cardio/resistance training. But because I worked out I had 2 cups of tea/coffee everyday. And on the weekends, I'd have atleast 1 cheat meal.
ReplyDeleteOne thing I'd like to add is...after you have lost all the weight..it is obviously 'difficult' to maintain it...but then that goes for any and every diet. As a lot of people say it is easy to lose the weight but difficult to maintain it. After completing the diet you have to make a conscious effort of eating clean. You can start to incorporate carbs into your diet but very slowly. A few days or weeks of binge eating can ruin all your efforts. So steer clear of foods that are just plain bad.
So how many times did you do it? And, are you still thin? I have a paper copy of the diet and it says you can do the diet once then do weeks 1 and 4 twice. Seen really good results. Want to :continue but should I go off one week then start from day 1 or what? Anyone know

I have kept off the weight from the first time I did it in july but when I lost 30 in oct I gained some of it back, I think because I didn't slowly add things back into my diet. nevertheless this is the 3rd time i'm doing the diet. But probably could've lost more if I had not substituted items .for instance when it says to have a can of tuna have a can of tuna.i substituted yhe can of tuna with some 8oz.of steelhead fish which is mouth watering.. 24 lbs is still not bad. Also weigh yourself each week. I didn't and shouldve. I plan to do it again.

DeleteI am on 11 day of this and I have lost only 3 kilo which is 7 pounds. I have been following exactly mentioned above apart of I'm taking 2 cups of tea in a day without sugar with some milk. I'm taking 10-15 glasses of water in a day and also doing Jillian micheals ripped in 30 days exercise regularly. By reading comments above I realized people losing more weight than I do and I wonder why? I have only 30 days to lose 30 pounds before I visit back home. ReplyDeleteYou read my mind, I am on day 12 of the diet after starting mainly for a week and cheated and had to do it all over again, anyway total weight down is 11 pounds and am still in it.
Deletemy issue is the boiled eggs. I need a substitution bkz it is so unhealthy for ppl who have cholesterol like me and even ppl that don't eating eggs more than 4 times toppppps a week is crazy. Like yesterday day 11 I had to eat 6 eggs a day :o I gagged. I couldn't finish my dinner. All throughout this diet I've been getting super dry itchy skin and just couple days ago I started getting red rashes and I am pretty sure it's from the eggs.
when u say roast beef is a substitution can u be specific? Cold cuts or hot roast beef which one plus it's pretty hard to have Roastbeef for breakfast. And also how much grams is a substitution for each egg plz specify
can you have coffee or green tea in the morning??

Deletehun i will do my weight tonight and then i will let you know by tonight. but the last time i checked it was over 10 pounds i lost. i stopped taking evening tea now replaced it with green tea but i m still taking morning tea because if i don't take morning tea i get headache all day. i will let u know how much i lost. but i m doing workout everyday.

I have never been able to eat whole fruit at breakfast even as a child, but i drink unsweetened grapefruit juice every morning for years
ReplyDeleteyou may have plain coffee or tea with artificial sweetner. No milk or cream. However water is best. You may use dressing on your salad, but fat free only. When it mentions meat cut or ground, it can be ANY (EXCLUDING mouton or lamb) lean meat skin removed. Do not use butter or oils. You may use any spices.

are there any acceptable snacks permitted to eat in between meals that will not throw off the weight loss progression?
ReplyDeleteAcceptable snacks any quantity of cucumbers, lettuce or carrots only after 2 hours have passed since the main meal. you can only eat one kind of these vegetables between meals.

I am drinking warm water with lemons in it just for a little flavor. not bad usually have 3 to four tablespoons of sugar in coffee or tea. I will weigh in on Saturday and post back Denise

ReplyDeleteHi, I am looking to start your meal program tomorrow (UK time), I am presently 238lbs and 5' 11" tall. I am looking to drop 28-42lbs and I am also starting personal trainer sessions at the gym 3x time per week with an aim to be active 5x times per week (previously inactive for 7 months). Would you advise to do this meal program without adding additional meals to make up for the increased activity? If yes, should I expect any adverse effects? Also, with the increased activity should I expect to lose weight much faster?

ReplyDeleteIm starting this AGAIN today - have a holiday booked and am really determined this time.
I know there is strictly NO SUBSTITUTIONS - Im mainly OK with that, luckily I like gratefruit and have a great non stick pan so am having totally fat free omlettes instead of boiled eggs.
Im just wondering - what the science behind this is and if I could swap the fruit at lunch for a big plate of steamed green veg with a bit of spice on instead? Surely this has less sugar and carbs and is just as healthy (if not more so).
I also wonder why its says no celery as this is a very low calorie salad option.
If anyone can shed any light on this, it would be great. Thank you.
