Fat burn exercise
Exercise is
a crucial ingredient for successful weight loss. If you have led a sedentary
lifestyle, starting to exercise is a big deal. It can even seem very daunting.
However, if you cautiously approach exercise, starting slowly and gradually
building up the intensity, you will be successfully on your way to a healthier
you.
What Not To Do
Reality TV
shows built around weight loss competitions are the prime example of what not
to do. They take very overweight, very sedentary individuals and make them do intense
exercise for long periods of time. There is significant risk of injury in doing
so.
While
reality television contestants also have professional trainers and a medical
team observing them, the average individual does not.
The Right Intensity
When you
are starting to exercise, focus on the intensity. You need to start out
prudently, working sufficiently hard to garner the benefits of exercise,
without overdoing it. You should be able to maintain a conversation while you
exercise.
Walking is
a great, easy and inexpensive way to start exercising. Don’t aim for 5 miles
the first day. Instead walk at a brisk pace for you for about 20 to 30 minutes.
Gradually after three or four walks like this, add an extra three to five
minutes to your walk. Always maintain a brisk pace. When you have worked up to
an hour of walking and the pace is no longer a challenge, it may be time to
consider alternating walking and running.
Frequency Matters
The most
important thing about exercising is to be consistent with it. Low intensity
exercise every day is much more beneficial to your health than high intensity
exercise that is very sporadic. While the contestants on weight loss shows
exercise for many hours a day, the average individual who works and has family
commitments cannot give up a similar amount of time. Therefore, plan to
exercise every day. In fact, twice a day will give you the best results.
When you
find that you are physically and mentally ready for the next level of exercise,
invest time and money in a good trainer. This person will help put you on the
right track with your fitness and weight loss goals.
